Studies on the Bacterial Contamination in the Lavatory

Abstract
Bacterial contaminations on the surface of some water taps and some door knobs equipped in lavatories were examined. Standard Method Agar “Nissui” was used to count Standard plate count（SPC）and X-GAL Agar“Nissui” was used to count coliform bacteria. SPC on a water tap was in the range of 5.1×104 〜4.2 ×105 and coliform bacteria was slightly detected. Similarly, SPC on a door-knob was in the range of 3.0×101 〜4.1 ×103 and coliform bacteria was not detected.
