A Case Study on the Design of the Yawata Steel Corporation Labor Union Hall.

Abstract
The New Architect’s Union of Japan(NAU)was organized on June28,1947. At first, the activities of NAU were carried out by individual architects and architectural offices those were member of NAU design planning committee. The buildings which NAU designed were All-Japan Shipbuilding Workers Labor Union, New Japanese Literature Hall and The Federation of Bank Employees Labor Unions. When NAU took charge of the design for the Yawata Steel Corporation Labor Union Hall NAU was reorganized into a design committee. As such, during the Yawata Steel Corporation Labor Union Hall, the design committee aimed for a joint design organization. NAU, active in design projects in the post-war period in Japan, developed along principles of democratic thought.
